Apologies

Feb 17, 2010

Sorry that the blog has been offline for the past week or so. For some reason the database decided to stop working and its taken a week to identify the error and get it fixed. The timetable for dummies guides will be amended to take into account the blip… (and back-ups will be made fairly hastily!)

Some of the forthcoming content is being written by some of my students. They’d appreciate comments, guidance or links to improve their understanding of the the areas that they’re writing about (Dummies Guides to Hippocratess, Galen and Vesalius). Please add any links / ideas as comments on this post.

Updates

Jan 9, 2010

The first two timelines of factors and themes have been added to the site. These are on Religion and War. These pages will be updated as I teach later parts of the course and are intended to provide a few ‘real’ examples from each time period along with relevant links to more detailed information.

Coming next are timelines on Science and communications, Surgery and Public Health.

I’ve also updated the links page and added a few more teachers resources.

Finally, I’ve posted information about the SHP regional conferences onto the homepage. These courses are always very good and I highly recommend them to colleagues. Full details are on the SHP website.

Edit – The Surgery timeline has now been added. As with the others it will be updated as my pupils progress through the course.

Major updates

Dec 4, 2009

After a lengthy lay-off the site is now back up and running.

Shortly after launching this site I switched jobs and stopped teaching medicine for a while. Having now moved on again, I am once again teaching medicine through time and will be making regular updates to the site.

Teachers Resources have now been added to the site; an initial timelines’ page has been posted and an early version of an activities page has been added to the site – along with some improvements and updates to earlier content.
